A new multi-level restaurant and live music venue has opened in the Café Quarter area of Cardiff with the arrival of Gios, a centre featuring eight themed food and entertainment zones over three floors.

Following a major re-fit and refurbishment project, Gios is anchored by the new Gios Italian Deli Restaurant - Cardiff’s first eatery specialising in dishes from Calabria, the homeland of patron founder Giovanni Malacrino and his family.

A new concept from the Gios Group, the contemporary styled restaurant on Mill Lane is themed with large-scale photo prints depicting classic images of Rome from the 1960s and 70s.

The venue features eight entertainment zones including The Piano Wine Bar, situated in the basement suite at 10 Mill Lane. Inspired by the famous Ronnie Scott’s club in Soho, the new venue will champion live jazz and supper club music.

Upstairs features a multi-function party venue encompassing over 3,000sq ft, including La Dolce Vita fine dining restaurant overlooking the Café Quarter Piazza, and crowned by Sands, a stylish Las Vegas party and live music venue promoting music from the rat pack and swing era.

Giovanni Malacrino, head of Gios Group said “Our aim is to provide a range of experiences in one venue, based on our love for real food real music and a more mature and enjoyable club atmosphere, which the city centre and people well over the age of 30 have been crying out for.

At heart we are a family company and we have been part of the resurgence of Cardiff as a capital, the creation of our blossoming Café Quarter and the St Davids 2 and John Lewis.  These are special times for Cardiff, which is why we are excited to be providing a unique fusion of experiences based on 25 years in the business.  We look forward to welcoming back old friends and introducing a new generation to Gios and to Cardiff.”
