13.01.10 -WELSH BUSINESS INTROBIZ CALLS FOR MORE TWITTERING
A Welsh business organisation is calling for more companies to use Twitter as part of their everyday marketing activities.
Cardiff based corporate matchmaking group Introbiz has revealed the findings of its survey of business people which ranks twitter in fourth place behind other popular social networking sites.
The poll of fifty business people in Wales revealed that 73% did not use Twitter at all, favouring Facebook which was used by 50% and Linked-In at 42%.
Managing Director of Introbiz Tracey Jenkins said: "Twittering has really taken off in the UK with Ofcom revealing an average 3million Tweets a day, but our survey suggests that amongst Welsh businesses there is some way to go before it supersedes Facebook. As a business-building organization, we encourage our members to interact using all forms of networking and Twittering should be up there with emailing as a powerful form of communication."
According to the poll, business people remain hesitant in using social networking tools; when asked how confident they were in using them, six out ten people said they felt inadequately skilled in this area.
Joel Hughes, head of web design Company Jojet Ltd. said: "Social networking and Twitter is a fantastic opportunity for your business to engage with a vast audience of untapped customers. People buy from businesses they know, like and trust – Twitter allows your target market to tick all these boxes.”
