SmileyTalk is on the move and the Dolphin Shopping Centre, Poole has been chosen to launch a UK-wide Road Show linking schools throughout the world via a new online educational community.

Taking place 9am-5pm over 25-27 August, the SmileyTalk Road Show has been brought to Poole by Internet Entrepreneur Martin Harris, who says the system for children from 5 years upwards, has is designed to be safer than any other social network.

His team will be demonstrating the system which enables pupils to communicate live to  schools  all over the world, free from language barriers due to a patented translation system.

Martin Harris said: “We have been bringing our Follow Your Dreams charity events to Poole for over three years, so it is great to launch our new online community for  primary school pupils of all abilities here.

With SmileyTalk pupils can communicate live to our registered schools countries as far afield as India, Japan and Poland.  It has naturally been designed to be safer than any social network and we are delighted to be supported by CEOP, the Child Exploitation and Protection Agency.”

Teachers and pupils have an open invitation to attend the roadshow, which will also offer the opportunity for schools to register for free trials of the SmileyTalk system.

Notes
i) Developed in conjunction with teachers, SmileyTalk is a ‘walled garden’, using  a multiple preset question and answer format entirely free from keyboard input.

ii)To aid language development pupils can also select to ask and respond to questions in the language of the school they are ‘SmileyTalking’ with.

iii)The first overseas school chosen to launch Smiley Talk is St Peter's Panchgani in India, where rock legend Freddie Mercury went to school.

iv)Martin Harris’ career has taken him from a recording artist with Polydor records, to owning an ceramics factory, and being invited to Downing Street for his charitable works.

iv) Mr Harris handed over his business interests at the age of 40 to support charities.  His work with the GB Special Olympic squad inspired him to form the UK charity ‘Follow Your Dreams’ which stages hundreds of workshops nationally to help people with Learning Difficulties to achieve lifelong goals.

v) SmileyTalk’s origins started when Martin launched www.specialfriends.com supported by Special Olympics GB, which has thousands of members in 55 counties.  The communication engine of the site has now been developed into SmileyTalk.
